Cat's Log Saturday, January 8, 2000 The first provision of the CATO agreement states that each individual will respect the personal space of every other individual.
NEWS FLASH for humans: Picking up your feline friend, carrying him around, setting him down somewhere he doesn't want to be, hugging him, kissing him, and rubbing your face on him all involve entering his personal space. In fact, legally speaking, a feline's personal space extends 10 feet in all three dimensions (and a few additional dimensions humans have been considerate enough not to invade) not only from the feline's person, but also from any area graced with the feline's scent. Therefore, the legal definition of respecting personal space means groveling and making eye closing motions until the feline responds with eye closing motions indicating you may approach. Suffice it to say that violations of this provision occur hourly whenever GlennaJo is home, and form the bulk of the charges in my pawsuit. |
