Cat's Log Sunday, January 2, 2000 It's been brought to my attention that I didn't cover music during my recent series on feline culture.
We cats have a rich musical tradition that has many parallels with human practices. For example, where humans have standing ovations with roses thrown onto the stage, we felines have boot and shoe ovations. Shoes are much more interesting smelling than roses and are always a big hit with the audience. Plus feline contraltos (you didn't really expect me to say "baritones," did you?) must be athletes as well as singers, dodging tributes while they hit the high notes. One species' music is its gift to another. |
